Neuroshell Hangs When Loading an IBFeed Symbol on Windows 10

Windows 10 introduced a bug in their latest operating system update which prevents IBFeed Console from automatically launching when a symbol is charted.  This bug impacts a number of Software Products and to date, they have not fixed this.

IBFeedConsole is not required to be running, or launched when Neuroshell is started, it is launched as a convenience only, and can also be launched manually from the Start menu if you require it.

To prevent Neuroshell from hanging when loading IBFeed:

  • Close Neuroshell
  • Using Windows Notepad, open \Neuroshell Trader 6\Servers\IBFeed Server\settings.ibf and add the line:     launchconsole=0
  • Start Neuroshell
  • Launch IBFeed Console from the Start menu if you need to add/edit symbols and exchanges or see the log file in case of error

We are hopeful that Microsoft will fix this bug, but if that looks unlikely in future, we may force launchconsole=0 in a future software update.
