Missing Data

This faq applies to when you have missing data points for a symbol.  If you have no data at all for a symbol, please see this faq:  FAQ: No Data.

 

To solve a problem with missing data, it's necessary to learn a bit about how mYFeed works.  Bowfort mYFeed is an interface between Yahoo's stock data and Neuroshell.  mYFeed does not store any data or provide data, it acts as a translator only between Yahoo and Neuroshell.   Yahoo gets it's data mostly from CSI Data.  Bowfort only provides support for mYFeed, i.e. the "Translator" part of the process.  This FAQ will help you diagnose where the problem is and know who to contact to get the issue resolved.

 

  • Please check that the missing day is not a non-trading day for the exchange you are requesting the data from.  Many of our support calls are for missing data on public holidays when exchanges are closed.  This is particularly important to be aware of if you live in a non-US country and have different holidays.
  • If the missing data is for today, please see this faq:  FAQ: No Price For Today.
  • Check that the data is available from the data provider:  To verify if there is historical data for your symbol, please visit http://finance.yahoo.com/ and enter the symbol name.  Click "Historical Prices" on the left hand side.  If you see missing data for Open / High / Low / Close / Volume / Adj. Close, then that symbol has missing data on Yahoo.  Yahoo obtain their data from CSI Data, please contact them to resolve the situation, specifying that the data on Yahoo is incorrect.   CSI Data's contract for data is with Yahoo, not with Bowfort, so telling them that mYFeed has missing data will not rectify your situation.
  • If Yahoo has the data and Neuroshell still doesn't, there's another possiblity.  Yahoo may have had missing data that has now been repaired.  Neuroshell cache's (maintains a copy) of any data it receives, so it might be storing a record of the missing data from it's original request.  To solve this, you need to clear the cache in Neuroshell.  Please close Neuroshell, open the folder \Neuroshell Trader 6\Servers\Data and look for files ending with .wsg, these are the cache files.  Please delete any of these files that contain your symbol name in their filename.  Start Neuroshell and request the symbol again.
